Writing Commissions

I am happy to undertake specific writing projects. If you are the owner of a historic house, castle or building, and are looking to better promote it as a business asset, why not have a professionally put together brochure? I can do all the research as well, to ensure that you know the job has been done properly.

If you are looking to sell a historic property yourself, or on behalf of a client, you need to ensure that the sales brochure has accurate and well-written history as part of it. This is also the type of project I take on. The best way to ensure compelling and accurate history is to get a professional to do it!

Every now and again you find articles in the press about historic personalities and events. If you need such an article or essay writing for your publication – about any aspect of ancient and medieval history, please get in touch. I can ensure top quality writing, combined with exhaustive multi-disciplinary research that your readers will love.

As a qualified history teacher, and experienced professional I can also produce valuable educational resources for sites, with clear objectives and for different ages and levels of ability. But please don’t ask me to do any history homework!

VOLUME 2: BADENOCH, GREATER SPEYSIDE AND GLENFIDDICH
Simon Forder (The Castle Guy)s Book :: Fortress Scotland

Fortress Scotland is a multi-volume project that provides a detailed description, analysis and history of the fortified sites in Scotland. Lavishly illustrated with the author’s own colour photographs and illustrations, each volume is a definitive study of the sites in the area.

This second volume, which includes popular attractions like Balvenie Castle as well as less well-known sites like Blairfindy and Lochindorb, firmly places the Spey valley at thestrategic…

The Castle Guide - a detailed history and guided tour for only £0.99
Simon Forder (The Castle Guy)s Book :: Fortress Scotland

Edinburgh Castle is one of the iconic images of Scotland, with hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. This Castle Guide tells the story of the castle through many centuries, and will take you on a tour which shows you all the major sights, and some not as well known.

The Castle Guide is divided in two parts, both extensively illustrated. The first part is the history of the castle and site, how it developed to become the most powerful fortress in the land as well as the bloody deeds done here from the earliest times. This is the real story of Edinburgh Castle that you won’t find elsewhere.

The second half of the Guide is devoted to an extensive tour of Edinburgh Castle. Following…

Historical Souvenir Guide - unpublished
Simon Forder (The Castle Guy)s Book :: Fortress Scotland

I was commissioned by the manager of the Newton Hotel in Nairn to write a historical souvenir guide for hotel patrons.

After a long and complex process involving a succession of managerial changes, the project was eventually abandoned when 99% complete, with only the floor plans requiring completion and minor changes permitting the inclusion of a publishing house. I include the unpublished guide as a free download here to demonstrate the type of product that can be produced in hard or soft copy. Please contact me if you are interested in discussing such a project for a historical property.
