Redcastle is a ruined tower and courtyard built on a clifftop promontory overlooking the mouth of the Lunan Water near Montrose. The cliffs are eroding and parts of the castle are extremely unsafe, perched at the top of a steep drop; it is likely that parts will continue to fall over the edge – and there are no safety fences. The ruin is accessible on foot via a footpath, but there is no parking available nearby.

The castle is said to date from the 12th century, and to be the castle ov Inverkeilor, but the masonry is not this early and it is the manor that is first mentioned at this time. Instead the courtyard is probably 13th century, and the tower is 15th century, built for the Stewart family. It was inhabited until the latter 17th century, and was partially dismantled for materials after the mid 18th. It occasionally appears in the press as a source of concern – but realistically it is not possible to prevent further erosion and loss.
