Belmont Castle is a privately owned mansion dating to the 18th century which is not accessible to the public. At its core there are older parts which are not really distinguishable from the outside today due to the substantial remodelling of the building to baronial style in the 19th century.

The original building was a tower house called Kirkhill of Meigle, and was a property of the Bishops of Dunkeld that was in existence towards the end of the 16th century, by which time the estate had been sold, possibly to the Fullerton family who held Kirkhill c1618, but the tower may have gone elsewhere, perhaps to the Nairn family of Dunsinane. In the mid 18th century, James Stuart-Mackenzie embarked upon a building project at Kirkhill, including a new mansion called Belmont. It was used as a care home by the Church of Scotland up to 2013, but has been empty since.
