Moniack Castle is a privately owed tower house that used to be open to the public as part of the winery, but has not been for a number of years now. It sits on rising land overlooking the Beauly Firth, and was once protected by marshland. The castle dates from the 16th century and was erected for the Fraser of Lovat family as a secondary property. They still own Moniack and use it as a residence; the upper portions only are visible from the public road.

The old part of the castle follows an L-plan with a round tower in the angle, but the two wings and the tower are all of different dates, and the newer wing may have been created from an earlier courtyard range. The property was significantly altered in the early 19th century, and this included dramatic internal alterations as there are no vaulted ceiling left on the ground floor as might be expected. The addition of a 19th century house corresponded with remodelling of the roofline, including the addition of battlements to the top of the tower.
